Sugar Maples

Sugar Maples

This old road that runs between two rows of mature sugar maples once belonged to a farming family dating back to colonial days. The farm was eventually bequeathed to the state and is now part of the Blue Hills Reservation.

In a story that has come full circle, a portion of the farm is now run as an organic CSA,  Brookwood Community Farm. Produce from this little gem can be found every Thursday at the Milton Farmer’s Market. Best of all, the trees you see here are tapped in early March, and the sap is boiled down in a small building on the property for syrup.

This photo is actually three photos, neatly assembled through the magic of Photoshop.
